Selection
Process for 2005 FISU Games (Men)
(August 11-21/05 Izmir, Turkey )
1. Rationale for
attending the FISU Game
- Excellent multi
game experience for Junior and Senior age athletes.
- Increase the
number of international games players have access to, therefore
better preparing them for higher levels of competition.
2. Coaches
- Robert Couillard

(Assistant)
- TBC (Manager)
3. Selection
Process
- 20 athletes will
be selected following the RoundIB of the CNWPL (The week of
February 14th) based on observations and assessments by coaches
Robert Couillard, Chris Hammer and Dragan Jovanovic during Round
IA and IB Esat and West CNWPL events. (Coaches will be in
attendance at both East and West events).
- The final 13
athletes and alternates will be selected following the CNWPL
Crossover, April 1-3, in Calgary. (Announced by April 15th)
May 1st selected athletes must confirm whether or not they will
take part.
As per the FISU criteria, all athletes must be registered in
school or one year out of the school and be in between 18 and 27
years of age. (This is a fully funded player program, with
estimated costs to be $1600 per player)
- Alternates will
be selected based on positions that need to be filled from those
athletes identified that decide not to participate
4. Training and
Competition Commitment
- Athletes that
are not taking the part in either Senior or Junior National Team
program this summer will be required to follow the training plan
made by FISU Coaches during the summer.
5. Player Cost
- Total cost per
player has been estimated at $1600 per player.
- $750 down
payment is due by May 31, 2005.
- The remaining
balance will be due prior to departure for the event
