Saanich Water Polo
School players shine at National Championship
The National Speedo
2005 Water Polo Championship held over the weekend in Winnipeg
brought together 12 teams and the top under 18 women players in
Canada. It was a seesaw ride for Saanich but individual players
shone.
Saanich was off to
a great start with a win of 12-3 over the Regina Piranhas. A
devastating loss of 16-4 to Calgary followed. The Saanich team
rebounded with a win against the York Mavericks but a subsequent
loss to Winnipeg's Bushido club kept the Island team from securing
semi final action. In consolation play a win over Guelph nabbed the
team a 7th placing overall.
Saanich players
Lara Kesteloo and Erika Brown were among the top goal scorers of the
tournament and individual honours went to both girls as game stars.
