B.C. Junior Men Grab Water Polo Gold

May 23, 2005

B.C.'s Junior Men grabbed top spot at the SPEEDO 2005 National Club Championships held over the weekend in Montreal. Brandon Jung scored 5 goals to lead B.C.'s Pacific Storm water polo team to a decisive 8-4 victory over Quebec's Dollard-des-Ormeaux. The BC men were undefeated in the tournament that brings together the best Junior (under 20) players in Canada.

"Our experience won the game" said head coach Ian Goodman, "we capitalized on every opportunity". At the half Pacific Storm led 5 - 2 and then "went on cruise control", adds Goodman, to claim the victory.

Pacific Storm's Brandon Jung was named the tournament MVP. Steve Ardell and Clem Hui were named to the Junior National All Star team.

With this victory BC further strengthens its place as the dominant force in Canadian water polo. It is the fourth gold medal in as many weeks for BC's Pacific Storm teams.

Next on the National water polo calendar is the Canadian National Water Polo League (CNWPL) Senior Men's and Women's final play off round. B.C. will be represented by Pacific Storm teams June 3-5 in Montreal, Quebec.
