BC Youth Boys Nab Silver at National Championship

Vancouver, B.C. - B.C.'s Pacific Storm Youth Boys (U18) took the silver medal at the Canadian National Water Polo Championships held in Montreal. Their win continues the medal sweep begun by B.C. teams in April.

In semi final action B.C. easily took Hull 12 - 9. The gold medal final pitted the B.C. Storm Boys against Quebec
rival Dollard des Ormieux (DDO). In fast paced play that saw DDO up by 5 at the half, Pacific Storm battled back in a hard fought, determined effort to close the gap.

DDO won the match-up with a final score of 10-8. Head coach Celso Rojas said, "our players gave everything in and out of the water". Assistant coach Ryan Bazeley added, "throughout the tournament the players improved with each game, leading up to great performances in the semi final and final game…. the team played with a great deal of heart and determination in the final, almost overcoming a 5 goal deficit". Spectators agreed, "water polo games don't get better than this… with 2 well trained highly skilled teams".

Individual honours went to Pacific Storm's John Kaukinen who was named to the All Star Team.

Water Polo Canada's Club Championship conclude with the
Junior (U20) Men's and Women's held June 1-3, 2006
