Western Canadian University Water Polo Championships a Success

Vancouver, B.C. - The first ever Western Canadian University Water Polo Championships were held November 18 and 19th at Thompson River University in Kamloops, B.C. Organizers John Stockdale BCWPA and John Csikos AWPA were excited about the results. Alumni players themselves, SFU and U of C respectively, they were very pleased to see the event established this year.

University of Calgary edged UBC in the Men's Division led by MVP Curtis Peterson while the UBC women led by MVP Erika Brown defeated the UVic squad. For a first time tournament the quality of play was high and the games spirited. This annual event should continue to grow and will hopefully soon be one of the stepping stones to a national university championships for both men's and women's water polo.
