Senior Women nab Bronze
Vancouver,
B.C. - BC's Sr. Women went into the Canadian Sr. Women's
National Championship held over the weekend in Montreal with a
young team. The one true Sr. was an outstanding one, goalie
Rachael Riddell - world ranked and a member of Canadian Sr.
National team. She was joined by 3 BC athletes and members of
the Jr. National team centralized in Montreal - Carmen Eggens,
Kerry Kaukinen and Candice Phillippe. The roster was rounded
out with 8 of the top BC Youth Girls - Saara Majuri, Monica
Eggens, Kelsey Campbell, Athina Vazeos, Kelly Stewart,
Elizabeth Pannell, Jessie Mather-Lingley and Caitlin McCall.
The BC team proved just how tough they could be by bringing
home Bronze.
The BC team
posted a 4 win 2 loss record. They fell only to Quebec's DDO 1
and CAMO who boasted full national team rosters. Coach James
Gardiner said," we played as a fluid group… the
incorporation of Youth, Junior and Senior players was
seamless. In the end we were unsatisfied and wanted
more". Coach John Stockdale added, "when you have
one of the world's best goal tenders, MVG Rachael Riddell, you
can easily transition from defense to offense with confidence…our
counter attack was excellent".
In the bronze
medal final BC pounded DDO 2 registering a final score of
11-2.
Final
standing:
Gold - DDO1
Silver - CAMO
Bronze - BC Pacific Storm
4th - DDO 2
5th - Calgary Renegades
6th - Ottawa
The Youth
Girls have their own National Championship coming up this

18 - 20. Catch the action and top caliber play. BC Youth Girls
are the defending national youth champions.
