Youth Men take Silver at National Championship
Vancouver,
B.C. - BC's Pacific Storm Youth Men took silver at the
2007 Speedo National Championships held over the weekend
in Calgary. In a fast paced and often intense tournament
the Pacific Storm team posted an undefeated record --
until the final seconds of overtime shoot-out action in
the gold medal round.
In the
championship final Pacific Storm was pitted against the
home town team Calgary Torpedo A. At the end of
regulation play the score was tied 3-3. Two over time
periods of three minutes followed. The scored remained
locked at 3-3. Play moved to a shoot-out - Calgary made
all 3 shots, Storm missed on one.

score - Calgary Torpedo A - 6 Pacific Storm - 5
It was a disappointing loss for the BC Youth Men who had
played seamlessly throughout the 3 day tournament. BC
supporters in Calgary called the final, "an
exciting nail biter". Coach Celso Rojas summed it
up," this tournament provided great competition as
most of our games were won by no more than 3 goals…our
boys played with great determination and never gave up…..they
were obviously disappointed to lose in the final in a
shoot-out but they have so much to be proud of…they
are a talented group of players".
The 12
member Storm team boasted an impressive roster of
talent. Three players have been named to the Canadian
Jr. National team and six have played with the Youth
National team.
Individual
honours went to John Kaukinen who was named to the All
Star team and MVP of the tournament.
Game
stars nods went to Daniel Tausan, Chris Toy, Tanner
Regan, Spenser Jacobson, Evan Van Neikerk and Stuart
Preston.
