BCWP Invites Teams for 2008 BC Open

Rules of Play
Except where indicated in this package, rules will be in accordance with the FINA Water Polo together with the FINA handbook.

Competition
Games will consist of four periods with two-minute intervals
30-second shot clock will be used.
Exclusions will be 20 second, stop time.

Players are only permitted on one roster.

Round Robin Games
are 6 min stopped time with only one 1-minute time out permitted per game. Points will be awarded during the round robin portion of the tournament as follows:

Win - 3
Tie - 1
Loss - 0

Tie games must be decided in the final round games only.

If any ties exist in team standings after the completion of the round robin games, the following criteria will be used to determine the placement.

If two teams are tied:
1. Head to Head Competition between the tied teams
2. Fewest goals against.
3. Most goals for
4. Largest goal differencial game
5. Coin Toss
If the two are still tied, or if the tie involves more than two team
2. Fewest Goals against between teams tied
3. Most Goals for between teams tied
4. Largest goal differential between teams tied
5. Largest defferential all games
6. Coin toss

Cross Over Games
are 7 min stopped time, one 1-minute time out, and Sudden Death overtime will be used to decide ties. (Golden Gold)

Medal Games
are 8 min. stopped time. Teams will be allowed 2- one minute time outs and Sudden Death overtime will be used to decide ties.
In the case of final round games, if the score is tied after regulation time, additional periods (2x3 min. periods) will immediately follow to determine the result.

If extra time does not decide the match, a penalty shootout will occur. Procedure is as follows:

1 Five players will be named from each team to alternately take penalty shots.
Goalies may shoot
The referee shall determine which end of the pool is to be used.
A coin toss will determine who goes first.

2 If after five shots the game still remains tied, sudden death shoot out will be used. Using the same five shooters, players will alternately take penalty shots, starting with the same team which started the previous five, until one team scores and the other does not.

Forfeits
Any team not lined up and ready to play within five minutes of the posted start time will forfeit. Teams must have a minimum of six (6) players to start the game. A forfeited game will be recorded as 7-0 victory for the opposing team.

Protests
Any protests must be lodged in writing to the Referee- in- chief no later than thirty (30) minutes after the end of the protested game. A $50 protest fee must accompany the protest.

Equipment
All teams are responsible for bringing their own sets of hats and warm-up balls. Balls will be supplied for games.

Awards
There will be Gold, Silver and Bronze medals awarded. There will be All Star awards presented at the end of the tournament.

We will have two designated warm up lanes. If players wish to use other parts of the aquatic facility (hot tubs, water slides etc) they must pay and get hand stamped at the front desk

The staff of Watermania Aquatic Centre have asked that we strictly enforce NO ON DECK CHANGING. We ask for coaches' assistance in patrolling this.
