BC takes Women title in BC OPEN Championship

Vancouver, B.C. - BC's STORM A reclaimed the BC OPEN Women's title after having lost it to Stanford for 2 years. The gold medal game pitted BC's Women, who were unbeaten throughout the tournament, against Stanford Red. It was a seesaw battle from the opening whistle. At the beginning of the 4th quarter the score was tied 8-8. Then the STORM Women dug in and stepped it up pounding ball after ball into the net. The final score 12-9. In the Men's division Fraser Valley Water Polo Black faced Calgary in the gold medal match up. It was a tight, hard played game with less than a minute to go in regulation play the score was 13 -11 Calgary. FVWP popped a fast one in the net in and it looked as if they would tie the game but the clock ran out. The recovery too late-Fraser Valley Water Polo Black took silver and Calgary men the gold.

Gold - Storm A
Silver - Stanford Red
Bronze - DDO, Quebec
4th - Calgary
5th- Stanford White
6th- Storm B

Gold - Calgary
Silver - Fraser Valley Water Polo Black
Bronze - Washington 1
4th - Storm
5th- Fraser Valley Water Polo White
6th- Washington 2

Storm's Monika Eggens, Athina Vazeos and Jakie Kohli were named to the All Star team.
Vazeos was the tournament MVP

Fraser Valley Water Polo's Evan Van Neikerk and Chris Toy were named to the All Star team.
