Con
Kudaba…an inspiring athlete
Water polo
seemed like a fun summer activity for a 13 year old swimming,
basketball and football playing Con Kudaba. Undeterred by a
score of 12 -1 in his very first game (his team was on the
losing end), something clicked with Con and water polo. In
fact so much so, that summer would be instrumental in shaping
his life.
Described by
coaches as a motivated, hard working athlete Con maintains a
grueling practice schedule and it's paying off big time. Last
year, at 17, Con was named to the Canadian Youth National team
traveling to Holland and Hungary. In March of this year he
became a fully carded athlete named to Canada's Jr. Men's
team. Officially on the fast track he's wrapping up his final
season with Pacific Storm and graduating from Terry Fox
Secondary in Coquitlam. August will find Con in Izmir, Turkey
competing in the World University Games. He returns home in
time to pack and relocate to Calgary where Canada's National
Men's training is centralized and he begins his first year at
the University of Calgary.
Even though
spare time is limited this summer it will likely find him in
the pool, coaching young water polo players as he has done in
the past, inspiring and mentoring those likely to be snapping
at his heels in the not too distant future. That makes him
happy!
Con lives
with his family in Coquitlam. He is a grade 12 honour role
student at Terry Fox Secondary.
Con Kudaba is available for interviews.
