National
scouts have their eye on Coquitlam player Saara Majuri.
Saara Majuri attended her first water polo practice 4 years
ago at age 11. She still remembers the frustration at not
being able to catch or throw the ball that day. Somehow
though, it was fun and she happily went back. Today, she is
one of the best young players in the country. Just how good
she is can be easily confirmed by checking statistics from the
Youth Pan Am Games in Mexico City in January…leading goal
scorer of the Games…member of the gold medal winning Canada
Red. She picked up another gold medal in April as she led her
Pacific Storm Cadet girl's team to a win at the National
Championships. In June she captured a coveted spot on the
Water Polo Canada Top 30 list. Like many water polo players
Saara is a multi disciplined athlete, basketball, soccer,
track and field, cross country running and swimming. But it's
the excitement and unpredictability of water polo that has her
hooked. Saara Majuri… is one to watch!
Saara lives
with her family in Coquitlam. She is a grade 11 honour roll
student at Centennial Secondary.
Saara Majuri
is available for interviews.
