Eggens-On her Way!
It is safe to
say water polo 'runs' in Monika's family. Everyone plays or
has played-mom, sister, aunts and cousins. She describes her
introduction to the sport 10 years ago this way, "My mom
brought me to watch one of my sister's practices in
Haney...she taught me a few moves and then she signed me
up!" It was a good move on Mom's part Monika was recently
ID'ed as on of the top Youth Women in Canada. No surprise to
anyone who knows this long, lanky 6'1" player who often
receives tournament MVP honours with characteristic grace and
humility.
Friends
describe Monika as honest, determined and fun. Her easy going
nature is apparent from first meeting, it balances a strong
will that drives simple goals--"to become a better player
and to one day be a part of the Canadian Olympic water polo
team". She appears to be on her way!
As far as a
future career path goes this Pitt Meadows Secondary honor role
student is leaning towards a degree in Physical Education or
Kinesiology. But there's lots of time for that….right now
it's just one day at a time.
Monika lives
in Pitt Meadows with her family. She is entering grade 11 at
Pitt Meadows Secondary.
